A.I IS KILLING FILM AND TV

A.I IS KILLING FILM AND TV

For almost 100 years, Artificial Intelligence(AI) as a film genre has been taking the movie industry by storm since 1927 with Metropolis, a black and white German film about a scientific creation in the form of a woman being brought to life by a mad scientist, to then essentially take over the world. AI has always been a major talking in point in film and tv, with many imaginations being with the factor of "Could this be a future". Many have seen that AI is much more than just a talking point in film and tv, instead of revolutionising the industry with improved creativity, it has done quite the opposite.

The premise of AI films sits on the same mantelpiece as Dinosaur films, a standing point for giving reasons to why they shouldn't exist in real life. However, unlike the Dinosaur, Artificial Intelligence has been used as a tool to create film and tv, not just basic help with script errors, or just for CGI to help fix an inaccuracy, AI is being used to create full length episodes or films.

During the beginning of AI, it was mainly a chatbot everyone used to use during childhoods, as it gained traction on YouTube as a trend with CleverBot, which during it's time worked in a fashion that seemed fun and enjoyable, you would be met with an AI created model with long brunette hair, and you could have basic conversations with it, but now it has evolved into much more with the Alexa, Google Assistant, SIRI, and many more.

It was then in late 2022, 4 years ago when AI started to become popular with CHATGPT, and it was then during that time when AI created videos started propping up on social media, during it's time, they all looked sloppy, uncreative, you could tell it was done by AI, multiple inaccuracies, faces would look uneven, limbs would be missing. But that is now were the danger factor comes in.

AI has now evolved so much that it is getting significantly harder to tell what is real and fake, it is now being used to create a governing body for Albania and has been used to create a complete Actress with social media accounts.

AI has killed creativity in the film and tv industry, as just yesterday, a YouTube channel by the name of 'The Unmade Season' uploaded a full 55 minute long episode of Doctor Who, made completely with AI, except the script was man-made. This is a danger for Film and TV, if AI continues to be used in this manner, and with the evolutionary path AI is taking, then human creativity will no longer mean anything
